Peacock Memorial Field
Monmouth College

Peacock Memorial Athletic Park/Glasgow Field is located approximately one mile north of the Monmouth College campus on previously rolling pasture ground. The nearly 50 feet of elevation change, natural drainage swails, high water table and a creek presented significant design challenges and extensive grading and drainage improvements.

Glasgow Field is a state of the art NCAA baseball field with restrooms/team rooms, press box, dugouts, spectator seating, sound system and vinyl coated chain link fencing. The field was constructed with a complete subdrainage system, sand amended topsoil and special turf mix to allow play hours after a significant rainfall. The infield was constructed of “Shakopee Red Ball Diamond Aggregate”. The warning track was constructed of a locally available mix of graded sand and limestone chips. The field is fully irrigated with computerized controls. An irrigation pond was constructed to recycle output from drainage systems, supplemented by creek water to eliminate costly city water bills.

Two regulation soccer fields were constructed east of Glasgow Field. A complete subdrainage system allowed the fields to be constructed with minimal cross slope. Sand amended topsoil, special turf mix, and complete irrigation system maximizes playing time and minimizes maintenance.

A lighted concrete parking lot for approximately 130 cars and maintenance shed were also constructed. An ornamental iron and masonry entrance gate controls traffic during off seasons and provides an inviting entrance for students and spectators.
