Bowers Residence Hall
Monmouth College

Metzger Johnson was the architect. Bowers Hall is a new 150 bed residence hall located on the west side of Monmouth College campus. This hall replaces a 1960’s era motel-style residence hall that was in need of major renovation or demolition. The College Trustees elected to construct a new upper class dormitory with a projected 100 year life span.

Student rooms are arranged in suites, each suite contains two large double bedrooms, a private bath and small sitting area. Each suite has individual temperature control, heating and cooling, and is wired with multiple electrical circuits, telephone, data and cable TV.

Common areas include a large first floor lounge with gas fireplace, second floor lounge with private study rooms, and third floor lounge with game room and adjacent laundry facilities.

The structural system is steel frame with pre-cast concrete cored planks and a cold formed steel truss roof system. The exterior is maintenance free, with face brick, cast stone and pre-finished windows and trim.
